If you’re planning a trip to Porto, this Douro Valley tour is an absolute must!
Our day started with a perfectly on-time hotel pickup by Alfredo in a spotless and very comfortable VW T7. From the very beginning, he made us feel welcome. His English is excellent, and throughout the day he shared so many interesting stories about Portugal, the Douro Valley, its history, and its wine culture. His passion and knowledge really made the experience special.
Our first stop was a small, family-owned winery, where we learned a lot about the region and the winemaking process while enjoying a fantastic wine tasting in a very personal setting.
After that, Alfredo took us to a stunning winery with breathtaking views. We enjoyed another excellent wine tasting followed by one of the best lunches we had during our stay in Portugal.
The day continued with a stop at the beautiful Pinhão train station, famous for its traditional blue tile artwork, before we relaxed on a peaceful boat cruise along the Douro River. It was the perfect way to take in the incredible scenery.
Overall, this was a truly unforgettable experience. Without Alfredo’s local knowledge and carefully planned itinerary, we could never have discovered the Douro Valley in such an authentic and enjoyable way on our own.
