“Best Private Wine Tour there is! Our private wine tour of the Douro Valley with Alfredo was the highlight of our trip! We were picked up at our hotel and transported with care into a day filled with magical moments! Not only is Alfredo knowledgeable about the beautiful area and the wine grown there, he delighted us with historical facts, humor, and a shared interest in music! Our first stop at Casa do Romezal was a beautiful start to our day. The owner Luis was filled with infectious enthusiasm for the area and the wines his family is blessed to produce there over many generations. His genuine love of the land and his heritage are evident in all he says and does. His wine and olive oil selections were as impressive and the estate the produces them. We loved them so much; we had some shipped home. The ordering and shipping process were easy and effortless! Because we were surprised to like Port so much, Alfredo made an unplanned stop at a nearby Port maker so that we could try Vintage and Late Bottled Vintage ports. It was an incredible experience! After a beautiful drive filled with stunning views, Alfredo took us to an incredible farm to table lunch at Cais da Ferradosa. Our multi-course meal of all locally sourced ingredients was paired with exquisite wines. It was at this meal that I learned to love port and tonic! Our food was flavorful, beautiful, and thoughtfully presented and prepared. This family-owned operation provided us with a five star experience and an amazing view! To complete our day, we were treated to a tasting of stunning selection of wines at small privately owned vineyard and hotel. This ideally located vineyard and hotel offered such an intimate experience with sweeping views of the Douro Valley. I kept thinking what a remarkable venue it would be for a destination wedding! All in all, our day was simply perfect. If you are looking for a personally curated tour away from crowds and cookie cutter itineraries, look no further!”

“Truly Amazing Douro Experience After having done many tours via Viator, and other apps, we have found that it is not very enjoyable. You never know what group you're going to get, and it can get crowded and frustrating. Via word of mouth we received Alfredo's contact information and could not be happier that we did. We only had 2 short days in Porto, but wanted to make the most of our time. The full day education and wine tasting (with 3 course lunch) in the Douro was amazing and exceeded all expectations. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in Porto Gaia, and embarked on our journey. On the roughly 1.5 hour trip Alfredo educated us on the history of the region, wine making, trading, regulation, etc. Our first stop was truly one of the most amazing winery tours/tastings we had ever done at Gueda (Casa de Romezal). Very personal and quaint. Luis is a true gem. Quinta da Pacheca was our next stop and was also amazing, where we were served an outstanding 3 course lunch. Our last stop provided the best views of the Valley - Quinta do Pego...I almost forgot the 1 hour boat ride up the Douro was breathtaking. Our expectations were exceeded in almost every aspect of the trip. We HIGHLY recommend Alfredo for any adventure. He has decades in the hostpitality space, and it shows!”

“Treating my family from Hong Kong to this private wine tour in Douro Valley was the highlight of our trip (or any vacation for that matter). Alfredo was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, always making sure that we were enjoying ourselves and that we were happy with the pace of the tour. The selection of vineyards was perfect for a day trip. Each stop offered a unique experience. We were able to meet passionate small estate owners and sample vintage port from superb years all in one day! The outdoor wine tasting with picturesque views of the vineyard and mountains was a real treat. Alfredo really pulls out all the stops and spares no expenses to ensure that this tour is of outstanding quality. The lunch at Quinta Da Pacheca was exquisite (the sea bass and port wine cake were some of the best dishes we had in Porto). This was, without a doubt, the most flawlessly executed tour out there. We were able to soak in magnificent views, learn and sample the best wine Douro has to offer, and enjoy a gourmet 3 course meal. “This full day tour is absolutely incredible and a must when you are in the Douro Valley. To start off, Alfredo is not only very knowledgeable about wine and the region itself, but also very polite and considerate. Furthermore, we were recommended to do this tour by friends of ours who highly regarded the tour. About the tour itself. Alfredo met us at our hotel and drove us to the first winery. On the way, we stopped at various lookout points and he enhanced our knowledge about the wine region and its history. Our first stop was Gueda Wines. This selection for the first stop was incredible. At this stop, we tasted various wines (white/red, as well as port wines) and had our own individual charcuterie boards to pair with the wine. Following the tasting, we went into the vineyard and our guide talked in great detail about their family history, maintenance of the vines, harvesting, etc. We then headed to Ferradosa, which is a farm to table restaurant. We were amazed by the delicious meal and wine pairing. Not to mention, it had amazing views of the Douro River. During our 10-day trip to Portugal, this was by far our favorite traditional restaurant. Moreover, when the waiter brought each course to the table, he explained in detail what we were eating, where the ingredients are from in the Douro Valley, and how it pairs with the specific wine that we were given. We then headed to Messias Wine Cellar next. This was one of the highlights of the tour. In this 200+ year old cellar, we sampled old port wine directly from the barrel and were given a tour of the cellar. During this stop, we learned in great detail about the history of port wine and how it is made. This is an experience that I will always remember! The last stop of the tour was at Quinta Do Pego. Once again, it was a great selection by Alfredo that included red wine and port wine. Alfredo took the time to explain what wine we were drinking at this stop, what it pairs with, etc. It is evident that after many years of business, Alfredo has carefully selected what wineries and restaurant he brings his guests to. My wife and I were very thankful about that. Furthermore, at each stop, it was private and as a result, we were not mixed in with other wine tours. We are so happy that we decided to do this tour and it was by far the highly of our 10-day trip to Portugal. If you are in the region, then we highly recommend this tour!!!”

“Highly recommend wine testing tour Alfredo is a knowledgeable and thoughtful tour guide. We are a beginner in wine but he was very nice and patient and shared a lot of interesting facts about wine with us. We visited three different wineries and each has its own characteristics. I can not decide which one is my favorite because all of them are wonderful. We have our lunch in one of the wineries. The food was awesome and the restaurant had a great view. At the end of our trip, we took Alfredo’s recommendation and visited a beach near downtown Porto, where we saw beautiful sunset. We really enjoyed our tour with Alfredo. Although it took some travel time to get to the Douro Valley, we felt comfortable in the clean car. Also, the itinerary Alfredo planned is excellent. If you’re interested in wine, please don’t miss this tour!”

“Great Day in Douro Valley What a great day with Alfredo touring the Douro valley. Alfredo picked us at our hotel in Porto for the drive to the valley. Along the way he explained in great detail the history and details of wine making in Portugal. Upon arriving in the valley the day started with a great family owned winery that has been in the family for 38 generations. Beyond impressed with the operation and their wines. On to the next tasting which was equally as impressive but on a different scale. Here we had a fantastic lunch paired with wines. After all the food and wine went on a relaxing boat ride on the Douro river. Nice change of pace and viewpoint. Then to finish off the day with another excellent wine tasting a a winery with an amazing view of the valley. Could have just stayed there and gazed at that view all afternoon. But had to leave to head back to Porto. Alfredo was knowledgeable, funny and safe. Highly recommend.”

“Hands down the highlight of our trip to Portugal and the best option to explore the Duoro Valley! I can not stress this enough, if you are debating booking this please do yourself a favor and reserve as soon as possible. Alfredo picked us up from our Airbnb and proceeded to give us the highlight of our trip! On the way to the Duoro Valley, he explained to us so much about the area, the wines and culture of the valley. We stopped at 3 different wineries that gave us a variety of all that that Duoro has to offer, and had one of the best meals we ate during our trip. Alfredo also worked behind the scenes with me to plan a surprise proposal to my now fiancé at our last stop. He helped to make it absolutely perfect and we made memories that we will share for a lifetime. I traveled to Portugal for the first time and visited Lisbon, Porto and the Douro Valley… I found Alfredo through trip advisor and booked the Douro Valley day trip to visit wine cellars, have lunch and take a boat trip on the river. The Douro valley is a must see, and you'd be silly if Alfredo didn't guide you! It took him less than 5 minutes to understand my group dynamic and really understand us and our needs. He was very knowledgeable and respectful. He took us to places we would never have visited on our own which was truly amazing. Alfredo picked us up in a very nice van with plenty of room for four adults. He provided just the right amount of Portugal history mixed with wine, grape and Douro Valley information. He has chosen some really wonderful vineyards for this tour and we really enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the actual owners/winemakers of the vineyards. “Best Day of Our Honeymoon Alfredo has the best job ever, and he created the best day of our honeymoon! We spent 2 amazing weeks on the road, and we were completely over wow'd everywhere we went. Then we met Alfredo for our private tour tasting and lunch, and had the best day ever. Alfredo used what little he knew about us to kicked off our day with the perfect small batch wine marler, Luis. Then as he learned more about us, he tailored the rest of the day to mirror our passion for discovering the Douro Valley. In addition, Alfredo is an excellent driver.
